Powerlifting
Competition benches, platforms, racks and calibrated plates — the three lifts on the same equipment you compete on.
What it is
Powerlifting here is not a class on a schedule. It is a floor built for the sport: competition benches, platforms and racks, calibrated competition plates and specialty barbells. You bring the program; the room supplies the standards.
Calibrated plates matter because the number on the bar should be the number in your log. The racks and benches are built for the lifts, and the platform gives you a place to set up without rearranging a commercial gym floor.
Who it is for
- Lifters preparing for a meet who need competition-spec equipment
- Anyone running a squat, bench or deadlift program
- Bodybuilders and strength athletes who want a real platform
What a session looks like
- 01
Warm up without a line
The room is laid out for barbell work. Set up a rack, load calibrated plates and run your warm-up ramp before your working sets.
- 02
Work the competition lifts
Squat, bench and deadlift on competition benches, platforms and racks. Specialty bars are on the floor when your program calls for them.
- 03
Log the number, not the estimate
Calibrated plates keep the bar honest. Use the 1RM tool for a training estimate, then confirm it on the platform.

Estimates only — ask a coach before maxing out. A calculated max is a starting point, not a lift you have made.
01Do I need a competition total to train here?
No. The facility is built for bodybuilding, powerlifting and strength & conditioning at all levels. The equipment is competition spec; the membership is not.
02Are the plates calibrated?
Yes. Calibrated competition plates are part of the equipment list, alongside competition benches, platforms and racks.
03Can I drop weights on the platform?
The gym does not publish a platform policy online. Call (858) 223-9800 before your first session and ask.
04How much does a membership cost?
$45 per month or $495 per year. Military, first responders and students pay $40 per month or $440 per year. A $20 initiation / annual equipment maintenance fee applies.
05When can I train?
Active members have 24-hour access. Day passes and 3-day punches are sold during staffed hours only — call for staffed hours.
